Cookie Policy

Effective date: June 18, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how BeeMatchr uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our platform — what they are, why we use them, and how you can control them. We handle cookies in line with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO) in Hong Kong and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies (such as local storage and session tokens) work the same way. They let a site keep you signed in, remember your choices, stay secure, and — where enabled — understand how the site is used.

2. Our approach: keep it minimal

Privacy is the product here, so we keep cookies to a minimum. In practice that means we rely almost entirely on strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and the platform secure. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data.

3. The categories of cookies we use

We group cookies by what they do rather than listing every individual cookie name (which can change as the platform evolves):

CategoryWhat it's forConsentTypical lifetime
Strictly necessary Sign-in and session management, and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery. The platform can't work without these. Not required Session, up to ~30 days
Functionality Remember your preferences (such as display and time-zone settings) so you don't have to set them each visit. Not required Up to 1 year
Performance / analytics Aggregated, anonymized insight into how the platform is used, so we can improve it. Used only if and when enabled, and only with your consent. Required (opt-in) Up to 2 years

Our cookies are served over HTTPS, marked HttpOnly where appropriate, and use SameSite restrictions to limit cross-site exposure.

4. Third-party cookies

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Where we rely on a service provider for a specific function — for example, secure payment processing — that provider may set its own cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver that function. Any non-essential third-party cookies would be enabled only with your consent.

5. How you can control cookies

You decide whether to accept non-essential cookies. You can manage them by:

  • Adjusting your browser settings (most browsers let you block or delete cookies)
  • Using privacy-enhancing browser extensions
  • Changing your consent choices for any non-essential cookies, where offered
A note on blocking cookies

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from signing in and using the platform, since they're what keep your session active and secure.

6. Your consent

Strictly necessary cookies are required for the platform to function and don't require consent. For any non-essential cookies (such as analytics), we will ask for your consent first, and you can change your preferences at any time.

7. Do Not Track

Our platform does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. You can control tracking through the browser settings and choices described above.

8. Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or how we operate. Updates are posted on this page with a revised effective date.
